Crescent® Nicholson 6″ x 1/8″ High Carbon Steel Round Chain Saw File is a knurl-cut file with a round shape, used for sharpening chain saws. It has a straight tang and should be filed from the inside to the outside of the cutter. Place the file against the beveled cutting surface of the teeth at a 20-degree to 45-degree angle with the saw. Sharpen all left-hand cutters on one side of the chain, then move to the other side and file all the right-hand cutters. The height between cutting teeth and depth gauge should be between 0.020 to 0.030 inches.
